ATB: Annie The Blue by Zihilism ATB: Annie The Blue by Zihilism
"Annie the Elf, Annie the Blue, Captain Annie Vayne of the Eagle's Lament was off limits."

Everyone once in a while I like to browse DA for something inspiring for me to drawn. Recently, I've grown quite fond of the main character for :iconsupinedragon:'s A Thief's Burden. So much so that I was determined to sketch out the character. This is the result. (And this [link] [link] is the work I did prior to coming up with the sketch.)

I did however liked overall design I have come up with as well as enjoy the prospect of potential of future works. So stay tuned, as you might be seeing more of her.

Updates will be made upon :iconsupinedragon:'s request, considering it is his character after all.

She's a half-dragon, and those are her dragonlike heritage. Did you know she has a tail as well?

Now you do. You might want to give it a read. :)

Great picture! Totally how you picture her when reading the story. I especially love the captain's jacket. :D

The only thing that caught my eye was her feet. The way they're drawn, all skinny like, I find they give the impression of part bird rather than half-dragon.

I guess you are right about the feet, but I could probably fix that. Still, due to some clawing on the floorboards, it will look more 'clenched'.

Otherwise I'm glad you liked it. :iconsupinedragon: described her pretty well enough, which made it easy for me to come up with this sketch.

Looking again I can see "clenching" idea coming across, but the thickness of her feet and legs still make me think bird/chicken. xD

Either that or the shear size of her feet are just giving the image that her legs are small.

Compare the legs to the feet and head. Maybe that will help. One way or another, I'd have to incorporate a slender figure, despite being pregnant and half-dragon. Needs practice around that department.

:O Awesome! I always imagined her with a longer, frillier skirt, but your take on it lets you show off her feet (and you did an excellent job of that). You nailed the coat, and while she usually keeps her stomach covered up (at least, for now), I think this picture does a good job of displaying her as a character. I fully approve, and look forward to anything else you might come up with.

Thanks. I'm glad that you enjoyed it oh so very much. (100 pts? You really didn't have too... :P )
My free sketches are works done purely out of interest and whim, and often an underlying motive of self-improvement.

I was going to go for an unexposed belly, but considering how she tries hard to cover it up, it may not be illustrated well that she's pregnant. Perhaps in another sketch thar be more frills and a subtle hint of a bump.

Also, let me know if I'm missing anything.

Psh, that's what the donation bar is for, right?

She might have some more stuff on her belt, like a few pouches and bags, but mostly toward the hips and back since the real estate in the front is... undergoing development, so to speak. But really, I think it's great. I mean, no character is ever described in perfect detail, as reading a list of features is kind of boring and even when it's well-integrated it can get very long. So far I don't see anything about your sketches that's identifiably wrong, which means you're working within what's provided by the prose. I can't rightly ask for much more than that. :)
